DEEP FOUNDATION - HELICAL PIERS
Customized to Improve Soil Stability
Helical piers, also known as screw piles, are deep foundation solutions used to secure new or repair existing foundations. Helical piers are vertical metal rods inserted deeply in the ground and attached to your house’s slab so that they can help to bear the load of the building.
Settlement in foundations happens when the load applied to the ground above exceeds the bearing capacity of the soil. In the case of foundation settlement helical piers are applied to push the foundation back in place.
Helical piers also can be implemented in the pre-construction phase instead of or in addition to a concrete slab, giving the needed stability to the foundation of new constructions.

SEISMIC RETROFITTING

Local and regional building codes now require all new homes to meet these higher construction and safety standards; however, many existing homes were constructed prior to the development of these newer code requirements, a retrofit may be necessary to increase structural safety. A retrofit adds bracing and reinforcement to strengthen the critical connections within a home. A home that has been retrofitted is able to resist much greater earthquake forces and has a lower risk of being damaged. Income-eligible homeowners may also qualify for Supplemental Grants, offering additional funding beyond the $3,000 EBB grant, contingent on available funds. The maximum amount for Supplemental Grants is region and retrofit type-dependent, specifically targeting the reinforcement of certain older, wood-frame homes. Check the EBB ZIP Codes to determine if your residence falls within one, and explore further details on the criteria for selecting ZIP Codes for the program.
